COGITO
a Surrealist contemporary circus project that explores
the movements of the mind and the collective unconscious
through bodies, balance and the manipulation of a staircase
THE STAGE : Thought in Motion
At the center of the stage, two acrobats and a ladder embody
thought through a continuous play of balance and imbalance.
The staircase serves as the core of the entire creation, a symbol
of psychological instability. Through handstands, manipulation
and hand to hand, this everyday object continuously transforms
into an obstacle, a support, a boundary, and a perspective.
The performance does not impose a single interpretation;
it is an emotional and visceral journey designed as a mirror.
We set the frame, but what each spectator sees within
it is the reflection of their own inner world, a unique,
unrepeatable journey into oneself.
THE PHILOSOPHY : Reclaiming Inner Space
In a hyper-connected world that constantly dictates
what to think, how to feel, and why, COGITO
serves as a space of poetic resistance.
Drawing inspiration from the Surrealist movement and
the psychological theories of Jung and Freud, the project
draws a parallel between our era and the 1920s.
Today, just as a century ago, art feels an urgent need
to defend critical thinking and self-awareness against
the tide of passive conformity.
Our intention is to offer the audience a sanctuary for free interpretation: an invitation to pause, listen to one's inner truth, and trust personal intuition, free from external
judgment, and reclaiming one's own legitimacy.
